Comparative study between four classical spectral analysis methods
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work presents a comparison between four classical spectral analyses: Fourier, multitaper, maximum entropy and iterative regression. Six 256-sample artificial series were generated by superposition of sine functions, long trends (of time scale greater than series length) and noise (generated by pseudo-random function). A spectral analysis of an observational time series (sunspot number) was also performed. Advantages and drawbacks of every method are described in this work. 2004 Published by Elsevier Inc.

Solving Some Initial-Boundary Value Problems Including Non-classical Cases of Heat Equation By Spectral and Countour Integral Methods
In this paper, we consider some initial-boundary value problems which contain one-dimensional heat equation in non-classical case. For this problem, we can not use the classical methods such as Fourier, Laplace transformation and Fourier-Birkhoff methods. Because the eigenvalues of their spectral problems are not strictly and they are repeated or we have no eigenvalue. The presentation of the s...
متن کاملThermodynamic Study of the Ion-Pair Complexation Equilibria of Dye and Surfactant by Spectral Titration and Chemometric Analysis
Surfactant-dye interactions are very important in chemical and dyeing processes. The dyes interact strongly with surfactant and show new spectrophotometric properties, so the UV-vis absorption spectrophotometric method has been used to study this process and extract some thermodynamic parameters. In this work, the association equilibrium between ionic dyes and ionic surfactant were studied by a...
متن کاملComparative Study for Inference of Hidden Classes in Stochastic Block Models
Inference of hidden classes in stochastic block model is a classical problem with important applications. Most commonly used methods for this problem involve näıve mean field approaches or heuristic spectral methods. Recently, belief propagation was proposed for this problem. In this contribution we perform a comparative study between the three methods on synthetically created networks. We show...
متن کاملA Comparative Study between a Pseudo-Forward Equation (PFE) and Intelligence Methods for the Characterization of the North Sea Reservoir
This paper presents a comparative study between three versions of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) algorithms and a pseudo-forward equation (PFE) to characterize the North Sea reservoir (F3 block) based on seismic data. According to the statistical studies, four attributes (energy, envelope, spectral decomposition and similarity) are known to be useful as fundamental attributes in ...
متن کاملComparative Studies for Speech Analysis Based on Multiresolution Spectrograms
This paper presents an evaluation study of the Multiresolution Spectral Analysis (MRS) method which provides a higher temporal accuracy in the upper spectral region and a better frequency resolution in the lower spectral range. We showcase the importance of this tool by attempting an automatic transition zone detection and an automatic silence/sonorant/non-sonorant classification. Our approach ...
